  • Everyone said they had a great day. A bit of rain at All the Best Video to start. 6 rigs, 2 passengers, one rig with passenger is not a member YET. He has indicated to me he may like to join the club. They drove up from Oroville, CA to run with us.. Doug P. met him through the ham radio. As you can see Doug is driving the Dak (Dakota) again. great rig. Perrywinkle, the Jeep has an electric fan problem. The mounts tore 2 holes in the radiator. New rd. is here just to lazy to replace it. The fan mounts concern me.

Anyway, we traveled northerly on Skyway (county) to Humbug Summit Rd. turned right, aired down and had a super day. We continued on Humbug Summit to the Forest Service (FS) 26N75, another right to Summit Lake. Doug even had a jacket on there as not only was it snowing a bit, the blasted wind was blowing rather cold. Then we went back to Humbug Summit, a right turn to the FS 26N27 (aka Scotts John or Jonesville Rd). A left took us to Humbolt Rd (county) to the left a ways & a right on what we hope was FS 27N06 towards Colby Mt. Lookout. As we neared Colby some of us started having ‘stuck’ troubles so it was decided to turn around. Shame on us. Fred made it the closest to Colby, but had problems with snow also.

We returned to Humbolt Rd, a right took us to Butte Meadows. Some had a late lunch at The Outpost (free advertisement), then we came home.

  • Thanks Doug, it was a good day and ride. It was about 110 Miles or so and The Pit ran well and in stead of driving in the tracks you made or anybody else I would make my own most of the time and wow could I tell when I was from listening to the motor. I got 8.6 MPG that trip. I’m hoping that Ren will join up after the December trip. I think we should have gone for it myself.

  • You’re welcome. It was a good day. I think it is a super pic for this site. Did I get he facts correct?
I try to drive out of tracks if at all possible for a couple reasons. One being I would rather have room to pass another vehicle instead of making tracks as needed, & second is, I think that the more tracks/ruts when the thaw comes it will help disperse erosion issues.
I didn’t get my mileage for some reason, but Dak got about 10mpg. I’m aired down to 25psi everywhere & I can sure tell by the mpg’s. Need to check my compressors to see how good they are working.
I agree, we should have gone for it. Some awesome pic’s from the tower would have been great. I don’t know what type gate or any security they have there when the tower is closed. Bald MT used to have a gate at the bottom, but I have crawled over it a couple times.
Hope this page generates more interest in the club, & I think it, will once the word gets out. Wish more pic’s were forth coming also. I know folks are taking them, just not sharing yet. Also, wish I could remember more about the other runs that were on the disc I gave you, that are posted here. I do have another disc, with more pic’s than those I’ve shared. that I may bring to the tree run. With my run plans, on the back of maps, I may be able to just copy/paste for future runs I lead, instead of trying to remember.
